The Westchester Aviation Association is pleased to announce its program for its Ninth Safety Day event, “Intelligent Safety: Powering A Smarter Future”.

The event will take place on June 3, 2025 at Whitby Castle, 330 Albany Post Road, Rye, NY 10580 between 8AM and 4:30PM.

This Safety Day event is the day before the NBAA Regional meeting at the nearby Westchester County Airport.

Also at Safety Day, WAA will award the 2025 Bill Weaver Memorial Scholarships to deserving individuals to pursue flight training, with special thanks to Tradewind Aviation and the Academy of Aviation, our partners in the scholarship process.

Register today for your attendance at Safety Day 2025! Use the button below: WAA Members price is $99, Non-WAA Members pay $149. A special “combo price” of $129 includes admission and WAA Membership.

Our speakers and topics for the event are scheduled and include:

• Maj. Gen. John Barry (USAF, Ret.) who served on the Columbia STS-107 Accident Investigation Board. General Barry will speak on the reasons and causes for the accident itself, and the lessons and teachings of the accident as applied to corporate and charter turbine flight operations.

• Jennifer Pickerel, President of Aviation Personnel International, who will focus on the challenges our attendees face in the sourcing, recruitment, training and management of maintenance technicians.

• A panel discussion of Integrating AI Into Today’s Flight Operations, including James Johnson (Sr. Manager, Flight Technical Services, Honeywell) and Bill Orr (Sr. Manager Technical Services, Gulfstream Aerospace).

• A look at the safety program and processes at major fractional operator Flexjet, with an emphasis on what large-scale companies, with operations much like that of smaller corporate and charter departments, are doing with their safety programs that can be a model for our attendees.
